One-click apps

Installing ready-made software in one step, and making templates of your own.

A one-click app is ready-made software that installs in one step: WordPress, Ghost, Grafana, Uptime Kuma, Vaultwarden, MinIO and many more. Behind each one is a template that says which containers it needs, how they connect, and which questions to ask you.

Install one

  1. Open One-click apps and find what you want. Search, or browse by category.
  2. Press Install, choose a name and the project it belongs to, and answer its questions. Answers that are secrets, such as an admin password, are typed hidden and kept sealed.
  3. Install. Everything it needs is created together, and if any part cannot be created, nothing is left half-made.

A template can create several apps. WordPress, for example, is a web server and a database. Only one of them gets an address on the internet; the others are reachable only by their siblings, by name. Each one is an ordinary app afterwards, with its own page, logs and settings. The images a template installs are pinned to their exact contents when you install, and software that keeps files gets its own disk, which survives every restart.

The template's own instructions are shown after it installs: where to sign in for the first time, and anything it needs you to do next.

Make your own

Anything your team runs often can become a one-click app that only your organization sees. Press Create your template on the One-click apps page and say where the application comes from:

From a GitHub repositoryEvery install builds it, and a push redeploys it. Private repositories work once GitHub is connected under Settings.
Upload your codeA folder from your computer, kept with the template. Every install builds it.
From an app you already runIts code, port, settings and database, as a template. Its secrets are never copied into it.
From a Docker imageA published image, such as one you push to Docker Hub or ghcr.io.
Write it yourselfA CapRover one-click definition, for several services, disks, or anything unusual. The format is CapRover's, unchanged, so the hundreds of definitions already written for it work here.

Your templates are checked exactly as the built-in ones are: images only from registries the platform trusts, no access to the host, and at most eight services. How many templates an organization can keep depends on its plan.

From a terminal

cloudjod catalog
cloudjod install wordpress blog --set db_user=blog --ask db_pass

--set answers a question; --ask asks you for the answer without showing it, for a password. A question you leave out takes its default where it has one; WordPress's database password, for one, is generated for you. See The CLI and the API.
